Stephen Dierks

Stephen Dierks is the Multimedia & Design Assistant for USI Network. He assists in the documentation and presentation of the Network’s professional development and outreach activities with schools. To that end, he has most recently collaborated with the rest of the team to design, test, and write for the USI Network Web-hub, which will be the new primary source for delineation of the Network’s news and resources.

Stephen has a range of multimedia experiences, both in and out of the university setting. As Podcast Coordinator for the University of Wisconsin’s student union, Stephen wrote, produced, and recorded weekly promotional podcasts concerning student events. As a promotional intern at the Onion’s Madison offices, and then later at the Polk Street Group in Chicago, Stephen wrote promotional copy and used online social marketing tools to promote events and organizations. Prior to joining the Urban Education Institute, Stephen also served as Editor-in-Chief of a music quarterly, directed student plays, and hosted a weekly radio show.

Stephen has a B.A. in English with a focus in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Stephen’s education-related interests include the English language arts, the preservation of broad liberal arts education and the humanities, and teacher compensation.
