What is the USI Network?
The Urban School Improvement (USI) Network is a unique collaboration of new elementary and secondary Chicago public schools dedicated to creating proof that every child in Chicago, from pre-kindergarten through high school, can learn at high levels, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or socio-economic background. The USI Network supports schools by offering: school-based coaching for principals and teacher leaders to support shared instructional leadership around a targeted area of instruction; content-area-based professional learning communities to support cross-school collaboration and the deepening of expertise; and, network-wide learning opportunities that support school leaders’ use of data to assess progress in student learning. USI Network is part of the University of Chicago’s Urban Education Institute (UEI), which is generously funded through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
